“Jesus does not teach you, young people, from afar or from without, but from within your very youth, a youth He shares with you.” (Pope Francis)
And so, too, did Fr. Peter. He shared in all of our features, because he understood that “true youth means having a heart capable of loving, whereas everything that separates us from others makes the soul grow old.” Like Jesus, he “kept alive our dreams, our projects, and our ideals, propelling us to proclaim what makes like truly worthwhile.”
YCT, Our Lady of Grace & We Are A Mission
In 1978, Fr. Peter Sticco and Mary Reed began Youth Coming Together, known as YCT. Over the years, it grew into a strong and successful community, developing and preparing young people to take up their mission in life. From trips to Appalachia to Peru, YCT advances the spirit and virtue of St. Vincent Pallotti, greating goodness that extends far beyond the group itself.
We Are A Mission is a global missionary network for the promotion of integral human development, that animates, promotes, and furthers the works of the missions with St. Vincent Pallotti, Patron of the Pontifical Missionary Union. Fr. Peter funded We Are A Mission since it was but a seed of a vocational calling, and saw it grow in its collaboration with the Vatican over 7 years. Many times, it shared its initiatives with Pope Francis, and recently presented the Offertory Gifts to Pope Leo for the Jubilee Mass of the Missions.
Together, it’s the youth from both of these programs that have created Fr. Peter’s website, so that our desire to serve may continue to be stronger than any doubts or difficulties.
